James Helal is a Lecturer in Construction Management in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. Trained in structural engineering at the University of Melbourne and the University of Texas at Austin, he teaches and conducts research related to the structural design and environmental assessment of buildings. James has acquired significant experience in teaching and content development in tertiary education across several construction and structural engineering programs. He is currently the lecturer and coordinator of the CONS10001 Principles of Building and ABPL90324 Materials and Structures courses offered at the University of Melbourne. His research focuses on the development of complex computer models that enable the integration of environmental assessment into the structural design of tall buildings during early stage design.
