Regenerated areas of Moradab Hill, an informal settlement in Iran
figureposted on 07.12.2020, 03:24 by Sombol Mokhles, Minna Sunikka-Blank
This figure shows the regenerated parts of Moradab Hill, an informal settlement, that have been significantly affected by the regeneration policies. Regenerated parts of the settlement usually include larger plots with high-rise buildings, widened streets predominantly for car access, and patches of parks and green spaces. High-rise buildings have emerged as a result of massive demolitions and evictions of the established areas and the merging of smaller plots.
This figure is part of a research conducted in Moradab Hill, that adopts a gender perspective to explore the influence of different places on women’s practices for social interaction and physical activity in the case study. This research was undertaken in 2019, as part of an MPhil studies at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Cambridge. The fieldwork was undertaken in April 2019.
